Donald Trump pulled the United States out of the Paris accord on climate change on Wednesday afternoon – saying it as bad for American jobs and bad for the environment.
Trump said American jobs always come first.
Trump says he would be willing to get back in but only if he is allowed to renegotiate the terms of the United States’ participation.
‘This agreement is less about the climate and more about other countries gaining a financial advantage over the United States,’ Trump said.
The deal is a ‘massive redistribution of United States wealth to other countries,’ Trump stated. It is ‘very unfair at the highest level’ to the US.
The Republican president also said he could not support the agreement ‘in good conscience,’ from an environmental stand point, either, ‘as someone who cares deeply the environment, which I do,’ because it is non-binding.
