Sophie Grégoire Trudeau says it’s difficult to live in our Culture

Sophie Gregoire Trudeau made a speech at the United Nations-led girls’ conference in Washington on Monday.

Gregoire Trudeau said it’s a basic economic truism that societies with empowered women are more prosperous.

“When women rise, men rise as well… It’s based on facts,” she said. “We have more women in the boardroom, more women in classrooms, more women in community life, we can inject peace.

“We can inject compassion.”

Later on Facebook she said it’s difficult to live in our culture.

“It’s so difficult to know who we truly are when we live in a culture that says this is who you should be or what you should look like. But it’s changing. It’s changing because women and girls are saying it’s enough. What an inspiring morning at the Girl Up Leadership Summit in Washington DC, where we talked about the importance of embracing our differences and focusing on the positive. Let’s treat everyone (including ourselves) with respect. And let’s make sure we empower each other, instead of tearing each other down… because when women rise, we all rise. #strongfeedsstrong #girlslead17″
