HALIFAX — A 47-year-old man is facing charges of aggravated sexual assault and choking after a woman was allegedly attacked in her home near the Halifax Commons.
Police say Sem Paul Obed was arrested Saturday after a woman said she was sexually assaulted by a man who broke into a home on Cunard Street on Friday.
Obed is also charged with choking to overcome resistance, uttering threats, break and enter and two counts of breaching court orders.
Police say the suspect fled the home before the woman contacted them at about 11:50 a.m.
Obed was arrested at a home in Fairview less than five hours later.
He was scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court Monday.
