One of the most enduring images from the inauguration of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States was a fuming Obama biting his lip in attempt to hold back anger at what was being said in Trump’s inauguration speech. The speech was the greatest display of not holding back any punches and telling it like it is.
This is why Trump was elected, wasn’t he? He tells like it is. He’s not a traditional politician. He wants to break the mould. And he cares, above all, about the people of America. All those aspects of Trump’s personality were at display during his inauguration address.
The hour of action
The inauguration speeches have traditionally been use to praise the democratic process, an exchange of niceties between the incoming and outgoing presidents, and an overall diplomatic approach by the President elect.
Trump, however, doesn’t set much store for diplomacy. He wasted no time in getting straight to the point. “We will no longer accept politicians who are all talk and no action, constantly complaining but never doing anything about it,” said Trump amidst enthusiastic cheer from the audience, “The time for empty talk is over. Now arrives the hour of action.”
The unheard voices
President Trump’s inauguration speech was an ode to the unheard voices of the country. He declared the day as a special occasion not because it marked the transfer of power from one administration to another or one party to another. It was a special occasion because he was going to take the power from Washington DC and hand it back to the people.
And this was what his inauguration was all about. “The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer,” declared a triumphant Trump. America is going to change for the better. And Trump will be the one leading it to the new era.
