A woman is being investigated for possible hate crimes after she allegedly knocked a Muslim woman to the ground and made threats to another female on her dress.
47-year-old Georgina Cassidy is charged with five counts of assault, threatening death, and threatening bodily harm.
Durham Regional Police claim the first incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on May 21 when a woman “uttered threats and assaulted” a couple in the Oshawa Centre near King St. W. and Stevenson Rd. S.
“Investigators are in contact with the Ministry of the Attorney General in regards to possible hate crime charges,” MacLean said.
