Non-binary Trans from B.C. explains why their newborn has no gender

It was really hard for me to come up with that headline, I could be legally responsible here, but I don’t agree because I’ve never been educated by so called pronoun laws.

Anyway, “they” (parents) decided to have their child’s health card marked without a gender, they will let the baby decide, the doctor is not allowed to assume the child is a male if it has a penis, or vice versa.

Kori Doty, from British Columbia explained why “they” (these pronouns piss me off already, should I say they??) wanted their child’s birth certificate marked as U under sex for “unknown” (which is messed up if you ask me)

Doty said that they are ‘raising Searyl in such a way that until they have the sense of self and command of vocabulary to tell me who they are’.

‘I’m recognizing them as a baby and trying to give them all the love and support to be the most whole person that they can be outside of the restrictions that come with the boy box and the girl box,’ Doty told CBC

But the fight isn’t over.

Doty, who is a non-binary trans parent, has been trying to get British Columbia to issue Searyl a birth certificate without a gender marker since the child was born last November.

But the province has so far refused, despite sending Doty the child’s health card with a ‘U’ for gender on it last month.
