Yazidi refugees need help from the Canadian government, the Yazidi’s have played a great role in defeating ISIS while being held as sex slaves, and now that the dust has settled some require immediate attention, help that only the Canadian government can provide.
A letter sent by Yezizi Association of Manitoba Inc. is a local woman is begging for help to get her son to Canada.
To whom it may concern,
We are facing an urgent, humanitarian and tragic situation regarding to Yezidi woman who was captured by ISIS and now she is in Winnipeg facing a very emotional circumstances.
Nofa Mihlo Rafo Is a Yazidi refugee who was recently sponsored by the Canadian government to begin a new life in Winnipeg.
Nofa lived peacefully with her husband and six children in Iraq until Aug 2014 when her village was attacked by ISIS terrorists. During this attack Nofa and her family were captured and lived in captivity for 2 years. Nofa herself served as a sex slave to ISIS militants until her release. During this time, she lost contact with her husband and 2 of her sons and had no knowledge regarding their fate.
Recently, Nofa arrived to Winnipeg as a refugee with her other 4 surviving children .
Four days ago, Nofa received a message from her cousin who spotted one of her lost sons, Emad Mishko Tamo, on social media, after he was released from ISIS by the Iraqi army.
Nofa was overwhelmed with joy to discover that her son is alive but her happiness could not be complete until she reunites with him. She found out that her 12-year-old son, Emad suffered from gun injuries upon his release.
Nofa is pleading for your help to reunite her with her son as soon as possible. She and her family were traumatized and brutalized in so many ways and hope that you can help to bring her son to Canada without delay.
Canada has done so much to help Yazidi refugees and Nofa is grateful for all the support she has received from the government and from the Canadian people.
We (Yazidi Association of Manitoba Inc., Kurdish Initiative for Refuges Inc. and Winnipeg Friend of Israel) are urging the Canadian government to act quickly and bring Nofa’s son as soon as possible to end the misery of this family who paid a huge penalty for being Yazidis.
Please check the attached documents, photos and videos about Nofa and her son.
