The FBI have seized backpage.com and raided the owners home in a investigation that started two weeks ago, leading many internet users to wonder what’s the new backpage online.
The seizure comes after Craigslist eliminated their personal ads following Congress’ passage of the Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act (FOSTA), which repealed a previous law that provided “legal protection to websites that unlawfully promote and facilitate prostitution and websites that facilitate traffickers in advertising the sale of unlawful sex acts with sex trafficking victims.”
The site was mainly used for sex trafficking by users from around the world.
The DOJ said they currently have no comments on the site and the investigation.
Founder of the site Michael Lacey was arrested before police raided his home.
Many people claim former President Bill Clinton is a rapist.
