Guadagnino repeats with Timothée Chalamet in a love story with cannibalism; The sequel to ‘Call me by your name’ disappears from their plans

Another of the most interesting European filmmakers of recent years has a new job on his hands. Yesterday we talked about ‘Poor Things’, Yorgos Lanthimos ‘next project, and today it’s the turn of’Bones and All‘, whose filming is already underway under the direction of Luca Guadagnino.

Road movie with love and horror

The Italian also has opted for the adaptation of a novel, in this case a work by Camille DeAngelis. The story focuses on the relationship between Maren, a young woman who tries to learn to survive on the margins of society, and Lee, an intense and wandering boy, during the odyssey they live together while performing a journey that takes them to know the America of Ronald Reagan.

A journey that, it seems, includes cannibalism. Despite the lovers’ best efforts, all roads lead to their terrifying pasts and a final decision that will decide the future of their romance. The script signs it David Kajganich (‘Blinded by the Sun’, ‘Suspiria’).

Notably Timothée Chalamet Y Michael Stuhlbarg will return to the orders of Guadagnino after the success of ‘Call me by your name’. Who will not be is Armie Hammer, the other star of that film; interestingly, Hammer was accused of practicing “cannibalism” …

In addition to Chalamet and Stuhlbarg, the cast includes Mark Rylance, Chloë Sevigny, Francesca Scorsese, Taylor Russell, David Gordon Green y Jessica Harper. Chalamet plays Lee and Russell plays Maren. It should be noted that ‘Bones and All’ is the Guadagnino’s first shooting in the United States and the director sounds very enthusiastic:

“I have been influenced by American culture, American cinema and now the American landscape, so I am very happy and proud to have finally come to this coast.”

¿Habrá ‘Call me by your name 2’?

With the new collaboration between Luca Guadagnino and Timothée Chalamet, and the fall from grace of Armie Hammer, It is inevitable to ask the director about the long-awaited sequel to ‘Call me by your name’. Let us remember that the Italian went so far as to say that he wants to make a pentalogy around that story and both Chalamet and Hammer were on board.

Unfortunately for the fans who wanted to see ‘Call me by your name 2’, it seems that Guadagnino has distanced himself from the project and right now it is not in your plans. This is how he explained it:

“The truth of the matter is that my heart is still there but now I’m working on this movie. And hopefully, I’m going to do ‘Scarface’ soon, and I have a lot of projects so I’m going to focus on this side of the Atlantic and the films that I want to do.”
