Japanese history Saint Seiya, which moved and continues to excite millions of fans around the world, is in the pipeline to become a live action movie. Although it was believed that it might be canceled due to the absence of information on the tape, it was recently known that its progress has been affected by the covid-19 pandemic, but that they do intend to materialize it.
Although not much is known about this future production this March, a comment by actress Famke Janssen revived the hope of fans of The Knights of the Zodiac: In an interview with Forbes, the actress who played Jean Gray in the X-MEN films said that the film “is based on an anime series that was very popular in Europe and they are turning it into a movie. It is based on Greek mythology. We were scheduled to film it last year in Europe, but because of the pandemic, we have already been hit twice. So that’s back on the plate for this year. Hopefully, fingers crossed, everything will go ahead. ”
These comments from Janssen, however few, at least confirm that the film will be produced and, from what he anticipated, it will be shot in Europe (maybe Greece, cradle of the saints of the zodiac).
So far there is no release date, nor has it been revealed who else will be part of the cast. Taking into account her career as an actress, Janssen may embody some of the most important female characters in the film: she could play Saori Kido, Marín, or Shaina.

Knights of the Zodiac, a story that marked generations
Saint Seiya, or Los Caballeros del Zodiaco as it is known in Spanish-speaking countries, is a story written and illustrated by the mangaka Masami Kurumada. It was published since December 3, 1985 in Shūkan Shōnen Jump magazine and then, in 1986, it had its television debut with an animation that went around the world.
The story tells the life of the five main bronze knights Shun of Andromeda; Phoenix Ikki; Dragon Shiryu; Hyoga de Cisne and Seiya de Pegaso who have the mission of protecting Saori Kido, reincarnation of the Greek goddess Athena. In the animation these young warriors they fight with the golden knights until defeating Saga de Gemini, who from the position of The Great Patriarch uses his powers to destroy Saori, true sovereign of the “saints”.
The series was so successful that new seasons were later produced, adding characters such as the god Poseidon and Hades. Currently the streaming platform Netflix produces a modern version of the animation, however some fans have criticized some of its elements: such as the modification of the linear plot of the story and the change of sex of the Andromeda hair (in this adaptation she is a woman) .
