The event, which will take place at a Los Angeles drive-in, will begin with a conversation between the protagonists followed by a screening of the film nominated for six Oscars from the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. There, audiences will be able to relive Callie Khouri’s scripted story that has Sarandon and Davis as accidental outlaws accompanied by a cast complete with Harvey Keitel and Brad Pitt.
“The intense reaction generated by the film was very surprising,” Davis recalled according to the site specializing in entertainment. The Hollywood Reporter.
“Thelma and Louise,” he added, “end up driving off a cliff, and still viewers are enthusiastic about their story. It made me realize how few opportunities we give women to come out of a movie feeling inspired and empowered by female characters. That movie changed everything about how I chose the roles in the future. ”
For his part, Sarandon added: “When we were filming Thelma & Louise, Thirty years ago, we had no idea what kind of cultural impact it would continue to have for decades. “
“At the time, it was revolutionary to have two women in a movie who were not enemies and were having fun on screen together. I think it has been one of the greatest advances: today there are so many brilliant actresses who make films in which women are not adversaries to each other and have the power to determine their own destiny ”, he concluded.
