The “Matrix” star will join this new project with the “Fast & Furious” actor, where they will play super pets.
The world of superheroes is taking more and more giant steps. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has achieved a lot of recognition with the creation of films like “The Avengers” and the solo stories of each member. His rival, DC, has also achieved his thing: the premiere in 2019 of “Joker” and the preparation of productions -which will arrive in 2022- such as “The Batman” and “The Flash” have made the studio return to the ring, then years of so much criticism.
In this case, two major industry stars have signed on to lend their voices for two characters in the DC Super-Mascot League. On one side is Reeves, known for playing Neo in the series of films that revolutionized the science fiction genre, “The Matrix”; and also, for his other star role: that of John Wick, a hit man with a thirst for revenge for the death of his dog.
On the other, there is Dwayne Johnson, an American professional wrestler and performer with a long acting career: “Fast and furious”, “Earthquake: the San Andreas fault”, “A spy and a half”, “Training dad”, “Guardians of the Bay”, “Skyscrapers: rescue in the heights” and the reboot of “Jumanji”, among other films. Precisely, he was the first to reveal the news, when he published a teaser for the film on social networks.
Also, he mentioned the following words: “Ladies, gentlemen, and children of all ages, it’s an absolute pleasure to introduce our star-studded cast as our league of two-legged and four-legged heroes and villains! Our @sevenbucksprod (Seven Bucks Productions, production company) has partnered again with @dccomics and writer / director Jared Stern to bring you and your families fun around the world. “
Kevin Hart (“A spy and a half”), Vanessa Bayer (“Ibiza”), John Krasinski (“A place in silence”, “The Office”), Diego Luna (“Narcos”), Natasha Lyonne (“Russian doll” , “Orange Is the New Black”), Kate McKinnon (“Saturday Night Live”) and Keanu Reeves (“Matrix”, “John Wick”) were the cast members confirmed by Johnson.
The story would focus on a gang that is dedicated to fighting crime while their owners are on vacation. Who are they? The pets of Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman.
Johnson will play Superman’s canine -called Krypto- and Hart, Batman’s -called Ace-. Those who complete the cast do not yet have a defined role, according to Deadline, a renowned online magazine in the world of Hollywood entertainment.
“League of Super-Pets” is an upcoming 3D animated superhero comedy film. It is directed by Jared Stern, co-directed by Sam Levine and based on the DC Comics team, whose original name is “Legion of Super-Pets.” Its premiere is scheduled for May 20, 2022.
