The seven years that passed between ‘Lost’ (Gone Girl, 2013) and ‘Mank’ (2020) will not be repeated to be able to see the next film of David Fincher. Earlier this year we received news that the director was developing an adaptation of Alexis Nolent’s graphic novels ‘The Killer’ and now, in addition to his screenwriter of ‘Seven’, Andrew Kevin Walker, it is confirmed that Michael Fassbender, will be the cold-blooded murderer of the comics.
New adaptation of a comic
‘The Killer‘is part of the director’s four-year contract with Netflix, although it was unclear when it would go live. We now have an update from the cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt, who spoke with El Diario Vasco and confirmed that he will team up with Fincher again.
He also revealed that a November filming start date is closing in Paris, which could explain the photos that appeared earlier this spring with Fincher and Mank’s star, Lily Collins, in the City of Lights. With production starting this year, we may see it in late 2022, but don’t speculate when it comes to Fincher.

Meanwhile, we can explore the synopsis of the story based on its comic:
“A cold, solitary man, methodical and free from scruples or regrets, the murderer waits in the shadows, alert to his next target. And yet the longer he waits, the more he thinks he is losing his mind, if not calm. A brutal, bloody and elegant black story of a professional murderer lost in a world without a moral compass, this is a case study of a man alone, armed to the teeth and slowly losing his mind. “
