Netflix: the actor who went from comedy to drama incredibly thanks to a movie from the platform | Spoiler

It is not a rarity, but it always attracts attention when we see actors who are generally related to comedy and go into drama, in roles that are truly memorable. Perhaps the clearest case is that of Adam Sandler, who has made people laugh on several occasions, but also shone in more serious films such as Punch Drunk Love, Reign Over Me O Uncut Gems. Who followed in his footsteps was Kevin Hart in a big role in Fatherhood, what’s new in the streaming service Netflix.

What is Fatherhood about? This is their official synopsis: “Matt (Kevin Hart) sees how the happiest moment of his life turns into a nightmare. One day after the birth of his daughter (Melody Hurd), his wife dies unexpectedly. This fact makes him a single father, who he will have to take care of his newborn daughter without the company of his wife. Matt will have to learn to live with the loss of the love of his life, while trying to move on with his daughter “.

This film is directed by Paul Weitz, Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, based on the memoirs of Matthew Logelin called “Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss and Love”. In addition to Hart, the cast has the shares of Alfre Woodard, Melody Hurd, Anthony Carrigan, Lil Rel Howery, Paul Reiser, Deborah Ayorinde y DeWanda Wise.

The criticism received has been regular, although the audience has approved it. On Rotten Tomatoes has a 65% approval, on Metacritic has a score of 53/100 and in IMDb got a rating of 6,7/10. In general, the opinions of the specialists agreed that Hart had a great performance and that is one of the great roles of his career.

While he has now earned a place in the drama thanks to Fatherhood, the truth is it is not his first role in a drama. We previously saw it in the movie The Upside, which stars with Bryan Cranston and Nicole Kidman, in what was a new adaptation of the 2011 film Amigos Untocables. Knowing that Kevin Hart it was known to unfold again in a different genre, I may choose a paper of this style again.
