The beginning of the end: The first batch of eight episodes premieres on AMC -and simultaneously in our country by the hand of Fox Spain- on August 22
The beginning of the end is near. AMC has just released the first official images of the season 11 of The Walking Dead, what It will consist of 24 episodes divided into three parts in which it will put an end to the story of Daryl (Norman Reedus), Maggie (Lauren Cohan), Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and company as survivors of the zombie apocalypse. The franchise will continue to advance hand in hand with its other titles, both the ‘spin-offs’ that are already underway, as well as those that are yet to come and the films starring Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln).
The first batch of eight episodes of the final season of The Walking Dead premieres at AMC -simultaneously in our country by Fox Spain- on August 22 and in it we will pick up the action where the previous one left off: While Eugene, Ezekiel, Yumiko and Princess continue to discern whether the new community in which they find themselves, the Commonwealth, is a paradise or their new nightmare, Maggie, Carol, Daryl and company continue to face the new threat that has come to them chasing the newcomer.
And that is precisely what the first photos of the new season. A dark group escape of the residents of Alexandria that harbors great dangers in the form of the undead and a chat among the newcomers to the new community.
The large community that readers of Robert Kirkman’s comic series know so well is key in the final stretch of the story on paper and will also be so in the fiction’s conclusion. However, before seeing them all there we will have to see how the survivors deal with the threat of the ‘Reapers’ who persecute Maggie and also how the plot unfolds with Negan. On the other hand, although those who know the story can expect to see some plots come to life on the small screen, perhaps Angela Kang and her team have bet on heart-stopping changes that are worth looking forward to.
In addition to the photographs, AMC has released the official synopsis:
“Previously in The Walking Dead, our survivors faced their demons from the past and faced new threats, with friendships and relationships being affected by the increasing collateral damage of the apocalypse, “begins by recalling the description.” Alexandria is severely compromised, left like a shell of home which was once because of the carnage and devastation wrought by the Whisperers. “
Now everyone living in Alexandria is struggling to re-fortify it and feed its ever-growing residents, including the survivors of the Kingdom and Hilltop, along with Maggie and her new group, the “Watchers.” Alexandria has more people than it can handle, feed, and protect. The situation is dire as the stresses of past events and self-preservation rise to the surface within its ravaged walls.
“The protagonists must secure more food while they try to restore Alexandria before it collapses like the rest of the communities with which they have crossed for years,” he continues. “But where and how? More emaciated and hungry than ever, they must dig even deeper to find the effort and strength necessary to safeguard their children’s lives, even if it means losing theirs.”
Perhaps there is light at the end of the tunnel and its name is … Commonwealth.
