Chris Brancato, co-creator of ‘Narcos’, will offer a master class at Iberseries Platino Industria

The first edition of Iberseries Platino Industria will bring together from September 27 to October 1, 2021 in Matadero de Madrid creators, showrunners, producers, distributors, platforms, television networks, acquisitions managers, financial partners and executives from key international companies within the Ibero-American audiovisual sector.

An extensive calendar of face-to-face and virtual professional activities has been programmed, where there will be a place for the exhibition of world premieres, training proposals, conferences, private meetings, pitching sessions and networking events to promote the exchange of ideas, projects and opportunities of financing.

Within the PRO activities of Iberseries Platino Industria Conferences, will be held keynotes and masterclasses in which the challenges of the audiovisual industry will be discussed. Likewise, panels will be developed with international showrunners and an eye on creativity, where content and talent come together to discover how the most inspiring directors, screenwriters, showrunners and producers from Latin America, Spain and the United States work.

The professional accreditation in Iberseries Platino Industria will allow access to all the face-to-face programming of PRO Activities and will give access to IPI ON, an online business area that will make it possible to schedule meetings, generate a personalized agenda and access the conferences and exclusive streaming content available until October 15.

Within the Keynotes and Masterclass section, Chris Brancato, writer and director of series such as ‘X Files’, ‘Law and Order: Criminal Intent’ or ‘Hannibal’, and co-creator of the Netflix series ‘Narcos’, will offer a Masterclass where the creation, writing and direction of original series will be discussed with one of the most prolific and successful showrunners on the international scene. You will be interviewed by Roy Asthon, head of the TV Literary & Packaging Department at The Gersh Agency, a literary agency with offices in Los Angeles and New York.

Brancato has written and produced more than 250 hours of televisionIn addition to those already mentioned, he wrote the MGM gangster movie ‘Hoodlum’ starring Lawrence Fishburne, the sci-fi thriller ‘Species II’ and ‘Sherlock 3’ for Warner Brothers. He is currently the co-creator and showrunner of the series ‘The Godfather of Harlem’, starring Forest Whitaker, Paul Sorvino, Chazz Palminteri and Vincent D’Onofrio, currently in its second season on HBO Spain.

The Masterclass will raise issues such as the creation of global and multicultural projects, the main differences between working in the United States and the rest of the world, and how to sell projects and talent not forgetting how to protect original ideas. Create for young audiences

From a different angle, Iberseries Platino Industria will address the secrets of the creation of series for the adolescent and young public in a conference framed in the Creativity section, in which the scriptwriters of the most popular high school series will speak.

They will make up the panel Carlos Quintanilla placeholder image, creator of the Mexican series ‘Control Z’, a Lemon Studios production for Netlfix and current Senior Director, Future Original Development of NBCUniversal – Telemundo Streaming Studios; Laura Belloso, creator and scriptwriter of The Mediapro Studio and executive producer of ‘El Internado: Las Cumbres’; Yolanda Garcia Serrano, screenwriter for ‘HIT’, in addition to doing many other jobs as a director; and Carlos Montero, creator of Netflix’s worldwide success, ‘Elite’, and who in the 2000s already participated in series such as ‘Al leaving class’ or ‘Física y Química’.

The panel “YA: Young, wild and free: writing for 15-24 and reaching beyond”, will take place on Thursday, September 30, from 3.30 to 4.15 pm, at the Cineteca de Matadero Madrid, Sala Plató.
