What suspense today in Deauville! Graciously made the history of the February sale, posting 500,000 euros, after a legendary showdown around the ring. Add to that the dispersion of the Farès and Moratalla workforce, and you get an intense day of sales on the Normandy coast, a day that broke records. We summarize the key points of the event!
Larissa Kneip had a lot to do! She had the last word on Graciously, the historic top price of the February sale.

The other event of the day was the dispersion of the Manneville workforce and Moratalla, and the results are very good for both! First of all, the Farès squad, under the banner of the Manneville stud farm, was sold for a total of 1,651,000 euros, the most expensive being the yearlings from fine stocks. Many horses have been bought by their trainer Jean-Claude Rouget, who did not hesitate, as you will see later, to spend substantial sums to remain the mentor of certain elements with promising pedigrees and models. These horses will be followed soon, under a different jacket than that of Issam Fares. On the Moratalla side, the results are also positive, with a good sale for Recover Me (see below), and several breeding products well received by brokers, who came in large numbers.

From a global point of view, this sale of February 2019 is for the moment a great success. Indeed, after the first day, 86.57% of the lots presented found takers, against 79.83% over the two days of 2018. If the trend continues, it will therefore be a successful event for Arqana. The average purchase price displayed is currently 222,572 euros, and the sale has already achieved a turnover much higher than that of the whole of the previous edition. This Tuesday, 5 horses passed the 100,000 euros mark, and 18 in all sold for over 70,000 euros. As much to tell you that there were beautiful people, and the Moratalla and Farès lots have a lot to do with it!
Behind Graciously, indisputable top-price, we find on the podium a student from each major breeding. Sold 210,000 euros to Michel Zerolo and Oceanic Bloodstock, Recover Me was before the coup a great prospect, whether for racing or breeding. The daughter of Fastnet Rock remained in 2018 on a fourth place in Listed, facing a more experienced and quality field. Only 4 years old, you might think that the gray will take the road to the United States, where Michel Zerolo has a lot of customers.

Another almost reached 200,000, close to 10,000 euros. This is the first product of the excellent Than Hope, this ofOasis Dream. The two-year-old filly, named Bainoland, is the top price for Manneville, and it was bought by his trainer Jean-Claude Rouget, for a buyer still unknown. In any case, we can not wait to see it in the race, because to generate such an auction, while it is unprecedented, it must have some under the hood!
Rather rare in February, two yearlings passed the 100,000 euro mark. They are two females from the Fares dispersal, who are cousins. The first is a girl at all good Camelot, daughter of Than Hope, which disbursed 160,000 euros to Eric Puerari. The same sum allowed Anna Sundstrom and High Valley Equine to acquire a yearling of Siyouni, daughter of Than Rock. So there was Baino everywhere this Tuesday on the Normandy coast!
We will also remember the purchase of Avenue, by its trainer Jean-Claude Rouget, for 80,000 euros, while it is unpublished. It will be one to follow, because like Bainoland, it must be esteemed.
Jean-Claude Rouget was very active around the Farès lots. We will quickly know for whom he bought these many lots.
Now let’s move on to the information heard in the bays. We were able to learn the future of two Moratalla students, Wilside and Become’s You, both purchased by Laurent Benoit and Broadhurst Agency, for 95,000 and 52,000 euros respectively. The first will go back to Channel Consignment, at Alban Chevalier Du Fau, and the second will join the Haras du Cadran.
As for Pacific Pride, from the family ofHawk Wing and crack girl Storm Cat, it was sold for 75,000 euros to Margaret O’Toole. According to him, the mare, full of Teofilo, will join Elwick Stud in England, stud where a certain Globalist is a stallion.
So much for this first day, and all the counters indicate that Arqana can draw a positive result. We are awaiting the continuation on February 13, to see if the trend is confirmed, even if this great success seems closely linked to the two dispersions of staff which were in the headlines.

The Benillouche family stud farm, Bernesq, where a sale of 22 horses was organized on December 14, will experience a second life following its acquisition by a new investor, Philippe Bouaziz. The latter acquired all the land with the 100 hectares of land, the castle, the tracks, the stables and the stallion Hannouma. He has also recovered the workforce remaining on site, which he wishes to sell in order to put together a complete stable with broodmares and horses in training on site. We will come back in more detail very soon with an interview on his project. For now, he has already bought 3 hens, especially the 76 Out of Town, triple Listed placed by Kentucky Dynamite, and cousin of Mekhtaal, for 95,000 €.
