This inspiring speech by Steve Jobs is the most watched in all of history

As the season of keynote addresses in the United States opens, famous speakers will introduce themselves to the newly graduated students. Many personalities will try this exercise … Most will fall into oblivion and others will cross the doors of media and social networks.

In 2005, at Stanford University, a certain Steve Jobs tried his hand at the opening speech! Probably without knowing that it would become one of the most seen speeches in history! The speech of the co-founder of Apple counts today more than 40 million views on Youtube! But why this speech so fascinates the crowds. We will try to explain it to you!

Steve Jobs founded Apple in 1976 with Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. The worldwide fame of iPhones or iPads is well established. Not to mention the famous MacIntosh which was in their early days, the panacea for all secretaries. Even today, the Mac remains a popular product around the world.

Steve Jobs is an absolute icon of business and culture. The launches of each new device are always the occasion for major meetings, until his death in 2011. In fact, it makes technology look good! He was a born speaker! He had this ability to captivate crowds with his speeches.

A speech based on the feelings of a man!

In his 2005 speech, Jobs talks about his personal experiences… His abandonment, his dismissal from Apple in 1985 and his thoughts on death! At the time, Jobs already knows that a first cancer is eating him away. And he says : It was the closest moment of death I have known, and I hope it’s the closest I get for a few more decades.

He also adds that remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know of to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. On this day, it is not the businessman who speaks but the man in the face of death! In some ways, they give these future business women or men advice for “his after” ! Jobs captivated the crowds because he knew how to show himself as a man and not as a billionaire.

The beautiful homage of his widow!

His widow, Laurene Powell Jobs herself gave the University of Pennsylvania keynote address this year. And in this speech, she obviously recalls the speech of her deceased husband in a beautiful tribute! She declares: one of the most beautiful dimensions of life is integrating those you have loved and lost into your own being. We see more – and we understand more – and we love more.

Laurene Powell Jobs refers to her husband in several places in her speech. Especially when she explains to students that the only way to do a great job is to love it! She also knows how nervous her husband was during this speech, maybe he knew he would be one of the last! There is always that Steve Jobs will leave forever the image of a businessman full of empathy who knew how to seduce the crowds …
