“Our big goal for this year was really to finish the album we started last year, finish my solo album and also finish digitizing decades of stuff to make a movie with Tim Pope on the story. of our group, ”said Robert Smith. “In fact, the confinement was good for me because there weren’t any other distractions, so I made a lot of progress on whatever I wanted to do.”
“I feel sorry for the people who had plans for this year, it was a disaster. For my part, it’s great that we were so productive. This year 2020 has been completely bizarre”, said added the singer.
A “darker and pessimistic” album
In July 2019, the leader of The Cure confided to the specialized site NME that the group planchaait on an album “without mercy”, under the working title Live From The Moon. An opus with a “heavy and overwhelming” sound, inspired by “darkness” and “family tragedy”.
“I have experienced the dark side of life more, for real. Before, I wrote about things that I thought I understood. Now I know that I understand them,” said Robert Smith. “The lyrics I’m writing for this album, for me personally, are more true. More honest. That’s probably why the album itself is a little darker and pessimistic.”
While waiting, the legendary voice of the artist is to be found on the title Space Timez, in collaboration with Gorillaz.
