his fortune crumbles by 23 billion, which is equivalent to the fortune of Elon Musk

Following a tumultuous time for the stock market and also for Facebook, CEO Mark Zuckerberg could end 2018 with the biggest loss among billionaires. Indeed, Zuckerberg has already lost $ 23.1 billion to date, according to Bloomberg.

With a current net worth of $ 49.7 billion, Zuckerberg is ranked seventh on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, a daily ranking of the richest people in the world updated at the close of each New York trading day. As of Jan. 1, Zuckerberg had a total net worth of $ 72.8 billion, according to historical Bloomberg data; the fortune of the CEO of the number one social networks has already lost more than 25% of its value.

With just over a week remaining in 2018 and the backlash from the Facebook scandals continue to affect its shares, Zuckerberg (who owns around 13% of the company’s capital, which makes up a large part of his net worth) could end the year as the biggest loser billionaire. In fact, Zuckerberg’s $ 23 billion loss is almost equal to the total fortune of Tesla CEO Elon Musk ($ 23.6 billion, according to Bloomberg).

According to Bloomberg data, as of July 25, 2018, Zuckerberg’s net worth was at its highest point of the year at $ 86.5 billion. Note also that between yesterday and today, Zuckerberg lost 3.22 billion dollars according to the same barometer.

There are currently a lot of billionaires down on this day (As of December 22, Bill Gates had lost $ 1.15 billion and Warren Buffett had lost $ 574 million). In addition, note that no billionaire has crossed the threshold of 20 billion annual loss. Moreover, very few have crossed the 10 billion loss mark. On the list of 500 billionaires presented by the index only four people have lost more than 10 billion dollars. They are the Spaniard Amancio Ortega (the biggest loss behind Mark Zuckerberg) who loses $ 16.2 billion, the German Georg Schaeffler ($ 13.6 billion loss), the Chinese Wang Jianlin (11 , $ 1 billion loss) and Jack Ma ($ 10.5 billion loss)

But all is not dark on the side of billionaires. The richest person in the world, who is none other than Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, has earned $ 16.1 billion since the start of the year, with a current net worth of $ 115 billion, according to Bloomberg. However, according to historical Bloomberg data, that is still down from his highest net worth of 2018 of 201 billion in September 2018.
