Megayacht Anna in Papeete

Is this the return of megayachts to Polynesia? That of Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev arrived in Papeete on Tuesday morning.

110 meters long, with a capacity of 16 passengers and 32 crew members, a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure and of course, a helicopter. Anna was built in the Netherlands by Feadship and delivered to its owner in 2018.

An owner who is none other than the Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev, president and holder of two-thirds of the shares of AS Monaco. The 54-year-old doctor by training, he built his fortune by buying Uralkali, a state-owned potash company, and then selling it after the company’s involvement in an ecological disaster. Today a Monegasque resident, his assets are mainly housed in the Virgin Islands and Cyprus. His name appeared in the “Panama Papers” and “Football Leaks”, as well as in investigations by Special Prosecutor Mueller into possible Russian interference in the 2016 American election campaign. Dmitry Rybolovlev had acquired the villa for $ 95 million. of Donald Trump’s Palm Beach, which he never lived in and then razed to the ground. But he is not particularly in the odor of sanctity in the Kremlin.

In the people section, Dmitry Rybolovlev is best known for having been at the center of the “most expensive divorce in the world”, when the Swiss justice had ordered a payment of 3.3 billion euros to his ex-wife (they compromised ), and for its collection of works of art. Her eldest daughter Ekaterina, who gave her name to daddy’s Airbus A319 while the yacht is named after her younger daughter, bought Manhattan’s most expensive apartment for nearly $ 68 million.

The only open question is therefore whether the billionaire or one of his daughters will come to the fenua with the Airbus or the Falcon.
