FAILURES have been detected at several large US companies, including Airbnb, FedEx, Delta Airlines and HBO Max, according to reports.
Downdetector also reported issues at Fidelity, USAA, UPS, Home Depot, Southwest Airlines, Costco and Amazon around noon Thursday afternoon.
The other agencies involved are: Steam Newegg, LastPass, Charles Schwab, Akamai Ally, Discover, Draftkings, the McDonald’s app, Expedia, Concur, Google, JP Morgan Chase and Groupon.
In addition to these issues, there is also a nationwide 911 outage along the East Coast in states like Virginia and Illinois.
Affected areas include Charlottesville, Va., Where Rockbridge County rescue and emergency management have confirmed there are multi-state issues.
Community members have been urged to call (540) 572-4200 or text 911 in an emergency, while residents of Lexington and Buena Vista have also been affected, WFXR reported.
Additionally, around 12:10 p.m. ET, it was reported that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) website and the companies filing page were experiencing similar issues with an outage.
Likewise, Akamai Technologies Inc in Cambridge, Massachusetts, reported an outage in the Edge DNS service of its global content delivery network.
Akamai’s blog noted that this affects several websites around the world.
“We are actively investigating the matter,” read their statement. “If you have any questions or experience an impact as a result of this issue, please contact Akamai Technical Support.
“To save time, we are providing you with the most recent information available, which is subject to changes, corrections and updates. “
The issues are erupted on the blog when issues with Akamai’s Edge DNS or global traffic management services “could impact a significant portion of our customer base.”
Additionally, tech giant Oracle has been similarly affected on its Cloud Infrastructure website, but has yet to be confirmed that it is connected to this widespread outage.
However, it is not just US agencies and businesses that are affected by an outage this afternoon.
Thousands of websites have been taken offline due to technical issues sweeping the world today, affecting retail, financial, travel and even Olympic websites.
A French outlet called franceinfo has revealed that its app and website are inaccessible in a Twitter statement that coincided with the mass blackouts in America.
“Due to a technical problem, our site and our application are unavailable. Our technical teams are mobilized to restore the situation ”, we can read on their tweet.
