New Google Nest Hub coming to Belgium on May 4 (and doing it in your sleep) – News

The second generation of the Nest Hub, Google’s smart speaker with a 7-inch touchscreen, will also be available in our country from May 4. The main novelty is the Sleep Sensing function that analyzes the user’s sleep pattern.

The improved Nest Hub was already introduced in the United States at the end of March. On the outside there are hardly any differences with the original model, but the gadget did get a better speaker that, according to Google, delivers fifty percent more bass.

Although you can place the Nest Hub anywhere in the house, for example as a digital photo frame or simply as a central voice assistant, the new model explicitly applies for a place in the bedroom. Witness to this is the Sleep Sensing function that analyzes how the person closest to the display sleeps at night.

The Hub uses Motion Sense for this: a combination of integrated microphones and ambient light and temperature sensors that can also detect disturbances in sleep, such as coughing, snoring or changes in light and temperature. The aim is to help you better understand which factors influence your sleep. Every morning the screen shows a personal overview of your sleep data.

Privacy guaranteed

Google emphasizes that the privacy of the user is guaranteed. ‘Motion Sense only detects movement, not specific bodies or faces. The audio data from coughing and snoring is only processed on the device and therefore not sent to Google’s servers,” it sounds. Users can also disable the sleep detection completely and delete the logged data at any time.

The gadget will be available from May 4 in the colors Chalk and Charcoal and will receive a target price of 99 euros.
