Vivo shows concept phone with detachable camera – News

Vivo has presented a concept smartphone with a detachable selfie camera. The advantage of this design is that the screen surface is not reduced by an annoying ‘notch’ or ‘pinhole’. The extended part can also be operated wirelessly.

The Chinese smartphone manufacturer demonstrated the concept on Weibo blogging platform. The idea is that users can place the separate camera on a table and, for example, take group photos more easily. Furthermore, the separate camera also helps to take pictures from an awkward angle. Vivo has won a Red Dot Design Award with the design.

Not completely new

For now, it is still a concept. It is not known whether Vivo will actually apply the technology in models that come onto the market. This happened earlier with the in-screen fingerprint scanner, which was first shown by Vivo at the time.

An extendable camera is not completely new, by the way: OnePlus already did it a few years ago with the 7 Pro and 7T Pro. What is innovative with the Vivo is that the part is removable.
