Game News Elden Ring: Finish the game in less than 7 min, it’s possible
Elden Ring, the latest addition to the Souls saga never ceases to be talked about. After a unanimous reception from the press and players, endless sales records and the arrival of numerous mods, each crazier than the next, players are fighting to finish the game in one Record time. Moreover, today, a fan has just achieved a new feat.
Record time beaten again
Since the release of Elden Ring on February 26, the most talented players have been fighting to complete the game as quickly as possible. Just a few days ago, a certain Distortion2 let us know of his prowess by broadcasting an astonishing speedrun. The content creator who had already finished the game in under 13 minutes broke his own record by finishing the title in just 8 minutes and 56 seconds. We thought this new score was impossible to beat and yet, Distortion2 has once again proven us wrong.
Indeed, the speedrunner had the ambition to go below the seven-minute mark, and what we can say is that he succeeded. He just shared his new performance on his channel, and it is more than impressive. This time, Distortion2 finished the game in 6 minutes and 59 seconds. In other words: goal achieved. To see his run, we advise you to take a look at the video available below.
The speedrunner technique revealed
Just like for its previous record, to achieve this new performance, Distortion2 has once again used the mechanics of the zip. The latter, if you do not know what it means, allows you to pass gigantic chasms, or better, to teleport to specific places on the map to save precious seconds. To achieve such a feat, the player must parry and move at the same time, and this, in a very restricted timing. In addition to propelling the player from one place to another on the map, this movement technique, to say the least astonishing, does not leave environments time to load. When his character lands in an area, the scenery is therefore invisible. This then allows our hero of the day to travel long distances in just a few hundredths of a second, but also to instantly get rid of certain bosses, which are difficult to defeat, by making them fall into the void.
That’s not all, note also that the speedrunner does not hesitate to use fast travel or to restart the game to, once again, grab a few seconds. Indeed, restarting the game allows you to skip certain animations that take time to unfold on the screen. And contrary to what you may think, this technique is not considered cheating, since in a speedrun, what is taken into account is only the time in game. Loading times and others passages in the menus do not count.
The question we can ask ourselves now is: “will we have the right to a new one in the coming days?”.
