Guilty Gear Strive: A President who condemned Guilty Gear…in the game!

Game News Guilty Gear Strive: A President who condemned Guilty Gear…in the game!

Guilty Gear Strive has just added a new stage in its latest update: White House Reborn. In Digital Figure Mode, a painting features a President of the United States who openly criticized the game several years ago.

Guilty Gear Strive has launched a new update, in which the White House Reborn stage added to list of battle locations. A table has been added to Digital Figure Mode, he represents Bill Clintonformer President of the United States who had openly criticized the morals of the game.

In 1999, Bill Clinton attacked Guilty Gear

Bill Clinton is known to have been the forty-second President of the United States. In gaming, he especially marked the memories with a statement from 1999 on video games and their moral value, their supposed apology for violence, etc… In this speech, delivered at the Rose Garden on the occasion of the launch of a study by the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice on the impact of violent marketing campaigns aimed at children, it clearly quoted Guilty Geara poster of the game in hand.

When violent entertainment intended for adults are marketed to children, they undermine the rating system designed to protect them. And if you look at some of those ads, it’s hard to say outright that the games were made for adults in the first place.

Here’s an ad (about a non-specific game, editor’s note) that reverses the argument I just made: psychiatrists say it’s important to feel something when you kill. And then this ad goes on saying you should get yourself this technology because it is striking and you perceive “every sensationeach vibration, each mutilation, nine programmable weapon buttons”. (…) And here is another one that is the most incredible of all (the Guilty Gear ad, editor’s note). She says, “Kill your friends with impunity.”

23 years later, he’s in the game

It’s funny, when we know the place of the video game industry today in the economy but also in American politics. Above all, twenty-three years after this speech and this “offensive” marketing campaign (at least according to the President), it is fun to discover Bill Clinton in the game. Indeed, in Guilty Gear Strive, the latest update added the White House Reborn stage and the Digital Figure Mode, which includes an atypical board. Although relatively vague, this painting clearly features Bill Clinton.

An ironic addition, a wink that made people laugh on social networks. As a reminder, the update added the new Testament character, the White House Reborn stage, and the Digital Figure Mode.

Guilty Gear Strive released last June on PS5, PS4, PC, and Arcade.
