Samsung Galaxy S20 FE: the sublime 5G smartphone goes to €499

News good plan Samsung Galaxy S20 FE: the sublime 5G smartphone goes to €499

The Galaxy S are the top of the range of Samsung smartphones. While the Galaxy S22 has just landed, this model released about a year and a half ago has seen its price plummet. A great deal for a still powerful and efficient 5G smartphone.

Samsung has taken a pretty nice habit. When the brand’s smartphones reach the end of their generation, they release an improved version following user feedback. This is what the Korean giant calls a “Fan Edition”. Hence the “FE”.

Thus, the Galaxy S20 FE is quite similar to the Galaxy S20 for short… but better. The photo sensors are different and the screen has become flatter (the curved edges must have caused problems for some people obviously). It is a powerful and excellent quality Android smarpthone even today. We will come back to it.

While it was launched not so long ago at €659 (the price of the top of the range, what), the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE seems to have found a new price of stability: €499. We looked on all the big online sales sites, and even on the official Samsung site and we find this price almost everywhere. Good news.

Note that at the moment, Fnac is offering a pair of headphones at -50% for the purchase of this smartphone, so this is surely the best merchant to go to at the moment to buy your new phone.

Often, people are mainly interested in 2 things regarding smartphones: photos and batteries. So let’s start there.

Following the trend of recent years, this smartphone, like many of its siblings, relies heavily on the camera. The S20FE has a triple camera that combines a 12 MP wide-angle lens, a 12 MP ultra wide-angle lens and an 8 MP telephoto lens. Add to that a 32 MP front camera and the combination of 3x optical zoom and 30x SpaceZoom. Full of technical terms to say that, ultimately, the S20 FE is doing very well on this side. No matter how far away you are and what kind of photo you want to take, the phone has a solution to match.

As for the battery, we are on the classic for a rather high-end phone: 4500 MAh. This figure alone does not mean anything as the other components and the software part of the phone can draw on autonomy. We reassure you, in theory, you have plenty of enough to last all day, even with fairly intensive use.

Note that this phone can accommodate cards MicroSD which allow you to expand the storage capacity up to an additional 1 TB for really not very expensive. We want to point this out because the most modern models, even from Samsung, have removed this port. There is also dual SIM compatibility and IP68 waterproof certification.

For the rest, nothing special to report. The Snapdragon 865 chip supported by 6 GB of RAM is very powerful, even today. You won’t see any slowdown even on the most demanding apps.

The 6.5 inch screen is very well made. AMOLED panel, refresh rate of 120 Hz for maximum fluidity… in short, it’s all good. Especially at this price.
