Corona numbers current: ZERO! Five districts are now corona-free – advisors

The seven-day incidence in Germany has continued to decrease, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). According to information from Saturday morning, the value was 18.3 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week (previous day: 18.6; previous week: 26).

And: FIVE rural and urban districts are now Corona-free. In addition to the Tirschenreuth district (on the third day in a row), the 7-day incidence in the Prignitz and Plön districts and in the Pirmasens and Neumünster districts is a magical 0.0!

The best federal states

► There are currently four federal states with a 7-day incidence below 10: Brandenburg (6.9), Schleswig-Holstein (9.5), Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (5.3) and Saxony-Anhalt (9.2).

Within one day, the health authorities reported new corona infections to the RKI 1911, as can be seen from the RKI information, which reflects the status of the RKI dashboard from 4:08 a.m. For comparison: a week ago the value was 2294 infections.

According to the information, 129 new deaths were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. A week ago there were 122 dead.

The RKI has counted a total of 3,713,480 detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, however, since many infections are not recognized.

The RKI stated the number of those who had recovered at 3,573,600. The number of people who died with or with the involvement of a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 is now given as 89,816.

That’s how it works with vaccinations

On its website, the RKI announces the number of people in Germany who have received their first or second vaccination so far. In the graphic below you can see the current status.

How common is Corona worldwide?

The private Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore (USA) determines the worldwide number of corona cases. If you compare the German numbers of Johns Hopkins with those of the RKI, then the RKI seems to be lagging behind in recording new corona cases. Reason: Both institutions determine the number of cases in different ways.

The R value

The nationwide seven-day R-value was 0.83 (previous day: 0.79) according to the RKI situation report on Thursday evening. This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 79 more people. The R-value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago. If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection process subsides; if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.

This is how the RKI works

As an independent federal authority for infectious diseases, the Robert Koch Institute is currently determining all of our lives with its figures, investigations and the knowledge gained from them.

People with 90 different professions from 50 nations work there. Of the 1296 employees, 1224 are in Berlin and 72 in the branch in Wernigerode. The Berlin 24/7 situation center alone has 150 employees.
