Foot – Market – PSG
Priority of Real Madrid this summer, Kylian Mbappé has still not extended his contract with PSG. A situation which challenges all the more that it should not decide before the end of the Euro. But the Merengue club will have to seriously activate to succeed in completing this operation.
The future of Kylian Mbappé, whose contract ends in June 2022, continues to be talked about. In recent days, in the columns of The team, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is categorical on this subject: ” I’ll be clear: Kylian is going to stay in Paris, we’re never going to sell him and he’ll never leave free. I never give details in the media about ongoing negotiations. All I can say is that it is progressing well. I hope we find common ground. A very clear message which contrasts however with the speech of Kylian Mbappé, much less affirmative. ” I will answer. I never asked the president or Leonardo for a single player. I am a simple football player, I have to be content with the field. I never asked for a single player from PSG », He confided at a press conference. We will therefore have to wait for the end of the Euro to know the decision of Kylian Mbappé which remains a priority for the Real Madrid.
Mbappé’s salary is a problem for Real Madrid
However, between wanting and being able, there is a significant gap that the Real Madrid may find it difficult to get through this summer because of the current crisis. Indeed, according to information from AS, the PSG proposed an estimated annual salary of 30M € to convince Kylian Mbappé to extend. The merengue club will therefore probably have to align with this proposal to recruit him. And this is the problem, since beyond creating significant pay gaps within the cloakroom and the financial health of the Real Madrid, La Liga regulations will also be a drag. And for good reason, the Spanish League controls the payroll of clubs and that of Real Madrid, estimated at € 414 million, is the highest in the Iberian league. Therefore, the merengue club cannot exceed € 473.3m in annual salary expenses according to La Liga calculations. Of course, this leaves room for the 30M € of Kylian Mbappé, but while David praise has already committed with an estimated salary of 12M € per year, the Real Madrid would be flirting with the authorized limit and would no longer have any leeway to recruit other players. The solution is therefore not sales.
A starting wave is already planned
And according to information from AS, the Real Madrid has already worked well in this regard and plans a real bleeding in its workforce to free up space in its payroll. Nine names are affected: Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale, Raphaël Varane, Marcelo, Alvaro Odriozola, Isco, Mariano, Luka Jovic and Dani ceballos. The first two are obviously the most important. Sergio Ramos is discussing to extend his contract which ends on June 30. If he accepts, it will be with a 10% reduction in his estimated gross annual salary of € 25 million. If he refuses, it will represent a big saving for the Real Madrid who especially hopes to find a solution with Garteh Bale who will come back from his loan to Tottenham and regain his status as the best paid player of the Merengue club with his gross € 30M per year. His departure would be a real breath of fresh air for Madrid’s finances. Raphaël Varane asked to double his current salary (12M € gross per year) to extend and will not be retained this summer. The case Marcelo is the most problematic since he is not expected to play much next season, but does not want to leave. Under these conditions, the Brazilian’s gross € 16 million per year will be expensive. Isco wait to have a conversation with Carlo Ancelotti while the most urgent sales concern Jovic and Mariano which no longer fit into the plans of the Real Madrid and which together weigh almost € 19M per year. Finally, concerning Odriozola and Ceballos, which respectively receive € 7M and € 3M per year, their departures are less urgent. Anyway, even before his arrival, Kylian Mbappé to create a hell of a workforce review at Real Madrid.
