June 6th was marked by tragedy. Ismael bora, better known as B Show, died “apparently a TEP (Pulmonary Thrombus Embolism – according to the INEM doctor)”. Now, the victim’s family and friends are calling for justice for what they believe is medical malpractice.
The DJ’s sister, Catia Bora, wrote, with the help of the singer Kiara Timas, a text where he tells the story of the days before the artist’s death. “Ismael died 7 days ago and it was still not possible to hold his funeral… Ismael Bora was admitted to the Hospital Professor Doutor Fernando Fonseca, aka Amadora-Sintra around 11 pm on the day May 3, after a football game in which he injured his left knee”, began by writing.
“It took more than 6 hours to be serviced and when he was seen, the doctor referred to the injury as “you have a broken knee… You will have to be operated on urgently”. I quote that my brother did not have any personal history, he did not have any pathology”, continued.
However, Cátia explains that complementary diagnostic tests were performed the next day. “X-ray to the chest and knee, analysis for 3 tubes (Hemogram, Biochemistry and Coagulation and test for screening for SARS COV 2, which was negative”, said. “Proven the seriousness of the injury (quadriceps fracture) went to the emergency room on the day May 5th between 5 pm and 8 pm by the Orthopedics team, having subsequently been admitted to the Orthopedics A service of the HFF”, he added.
“In day May 6th, Ismael developed dizziness, nausea, vomiting and severe headaches, complaining to doctors about these same symptoms, and he was unable to perform the first uprising after surgery. Having said that, the medical team asked for the support of Anesthesia who confirmed that after anesthetic induction with Subarachnoid Block, there was also perforation of the Dura Mater“, said.
“In day May 8th, even with the persistence of symptoms, the medical team was discharged with the following medication: Paracetamol 1g orally, Metamizol Magnesico 575 mg orally, Enoxaparin 40mg subcutaneously. Ismael went home, continuing to report the same symptoms, complaining to friends about what he was feeling and waiting for a new appointment that was scheduled for June 1″, exposed. Ismael Bora went to see follow up last June 1st. “A new plaster splint was placed on him, which Ishmael revealed to be very compressive”, said.
“In day may 31st 112 was contacted for complaints of chest pain, shortness of breath and numbness in the right hemibody. Upon arrival at the emergency department (around 00:00), a simple ECG was performed, using the technician who performed the exam, which would have been nothing in the first place. Ismael was left in the OS corridor since then (around 12:00 am) until 9:30 am, being that around 5:30 am Ismael asked a nurse if he could leave, to which she replied: ‘It’s better not to leave because you don’t have a doctor assigned yet’. At 9:30 in the morning, a simple chest X-ray was performed, which was referred to as apparently being a muscle contraction, so she was discharged again“, continued.
“Ishmael went home. He continued with the same symptoms, not even being able to eat in the following days. In day June 6th at 3 pm, Ismael started again with a frame of tremors, intense sweating, nausea, was cyanotic, short of breath, tachycardia, chest pain. The Emergency Medical services were contacted, which took more than 1 hour to reach the site, with Ismael passing away on that same June 6th, apparently from a TEP (Pulmonary Thrombo Embolism – according to the INEM doctor). On June 8, I was contacted by the Court of Sintra to inform me that the autopsy was waived”, finished.
The call for justice to be done
In addition to internet users, famous as Dino D’Santiago, Mariama Barbosa, Yolanda Tati e Ruben Matay also reacted to the publication in their accounts. Instagram. “From ‘You’re all broken in the knee’ until his Death on June 6, 2021. June 6 was one of the dates I kept in my chest as one of the most symbolic in the history of mankind, as it was the day in that thousands of us March for the Black Lives Matter Movement, but unfortunately the path will still be far for the children of the suburbs of this great Lisbon”, started by saying Dino d’Santiago, referring that the DJ died “victim of Bad Ethics, Practice and Medical Responsibility! Medical autopsy is even waived, according to the Court of Sintra”. “We will not silence until justice is done, thus honoring the death of yet another artist that silence has taken!”, he stated further.
“I found it difficult to believe in the injustice and level of negligence in this case (…) The real price of inequality”, said Yolanda Tati.
“I can’t explain well what I feel, but I don’t know anyone who has been to the Amadora-Sintra hospital (Dr. Fernando Fonseca) and has returned alive! Whenever they tell me that “so and so” was admitted to this hospital, my thoughts are always this: he won’t come back!“, said Ruben Matay.
