Canelo fights with Beterbiev and Bivol are projected in 2022

In the list of possible next rivals of Saúl el ‘Canelo’ Álvarez are Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol

Renowned Mexican coach Eddy Reynoso revealed that Canelo Álvarez could return next year at 175 pounds to try to unify titles just as he is doing now at 168 pounds, and, incidentally, has put two names on the table: Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol.

Canelo Álvarez and Eddy Reynoso will have this Saturday night in Jalisco, in partnership with Eddie Hearn, a boxing card headed by Julio César ‘Rey’ Martínez, and there they took the opportunity to talk about the negotiations for the fight with Caleb Plant next September, where they will contest all the 168-pound titles.

Reynoso said, in an interview with Omar Pérez from Zona Deportiva, that they plan, among other things, for Canelo to appear in Guadalajara at the Jalisco Stadium for the month of February, in a presentation for the biggest after that in 2021 things will not they could be due to the pandemic, although they have not taken their finger off the line.

We have every intention of coming to fight in Guadalajara in February. It would be to defend (the titles) the 168 pounds or maybe look for a fight in 175Eddy said. “(At 175) there is Beterbiev, there is Bivol, after we win in September if we get the fight with Caleb Plant and we unify, we are going to look for both at 175 pounds,” he stressed.

He stressed that they would be challenges of the highest level for Canelo, because physically there are many things against that they will have to counter with a lot of technical and physical work. “They are really complicated challenges, Canelo comes from the Superwelter and is fighting with taller and stronger fighters at 175 pounds, but they are the challenges we like to take,” added the renowned Jalisco coach.

Eddy made it clear that Canelo is not returning to 160 pounds, and that the only fight they could drop to a contract weight of 164 pounds could be against Errol Spence., the welterweight who will fight Manny Pacquiao in August in Las Vegas. “The only fight we would take at 164 pounds would be with Spence, who is moving up, but not even for GGG we fight at 160,” he clarified.

Finally, Reynoso said that they already sat at the table to see how the Plant thing goes, and they hope that everything is ready soon for that great battle that will leave the winner as the undisputed champion of 168 pounds. “With Plant we are going to start negotiating with the people of Al Haymon, we have a meeting with Eddie Hearn to see how this issue is going, it is the intention to fight in September,” he said.
