Vitória will close the swimming pools of the club that were installed in the Firefighters building in Guimarães. The decision was communicated this Saturday to the members at the club’s Ordinary Assembly.
According to the board, an external audit was carried out which detected deficient conditions for the athletes and parents, including safety and hygiene, as well as high energy consumption costs. As a result, the Vitória board revealed that it will use other infrastructure in the municipality for the same purpose, ensuring that no modality will be affected.
A decision that led associates to question the decision, considering the “social” aspect that is inherent to the location of the pool installed in the fire department.
The budget for the 2021/2022 season was approved by a majority of the members, which includes this decision.
The vice-president of Vitória, responsible for the club’s infrastructure, also announced that the seats at the D. Afonso Henriques stadium will begin to be renovated, becoming foldable “as the members wish.”
Pedro Vinagreiro added that the top of the west stand will have new seats even before the start of the new season. As for the others, the vice-president of Vitória explained that it will be the gradual process that will be carried out throughout the season. Still in the stadium, it can already be seen that the safety box is in progress on the lower North bench, where fans of visiting teams will be placed.
The same responsible also made a review of the club’s infrastructure, namely the new mini-stadium that will be born in the academy, the new academy and the new sports pavilion.
The mini-stadium will have a capacity to accommodate 2,500 spectators in covered stands. The development will have a training support building, six changing rooms, three bars, gyms, administrative area, a technical area dedicated to the medical department and the High Performance department, a tribune, conference room, a press office and an anti-doping room . When completed, it will be the competition space for the B and under-23 teams, who currently play on the pitch of Pista Gémeos Castro. Pedro Vinagreiro guaranteed that the first phase is underway and is advanced, while the second phase is completed at the end of next season. The value of the new mini-stadium will be supported by the Victorian SAD, according to Miguel Pinto Lisboa.
As for the new Vitória Academy, which will be built next to Ardão Park, in the parish of Silvares and Ponte, in the Campelos area, and the new sports pavilion, to be built at the João de Meira School, the management assumes that these are projects which are “consolidating”, and are awaiting advances from the Guimarães City Council. However, Pedro Vinagre expects the new pavilion to start in early 2022.
