Shortly afterwards, the Polish first division team posted a link to its online shop, where you can now buy “Welcome home, Poldi” shirts. The shirts should surely find great sales with the fans.

Lukas Podolski changes to Gornik Zabrze

Gornik first posted a mysterious video on Monday evening that showed a black jersey with the number ten being flocked. With this Podolski was among other things in the national team and in Cologne.

A little later, Podolski also posted a video. He is standing in his soccer hall, wearing a street football shirt – which, however, changes into the black Zabrze jersey with the same ten after a jump. He writes: “Next chapter”.

Along with 1. FC Köln, Zabrze is Poldi’s absolute favorite club. He was born just ten kilometers from the 170,000-inhabitant city in Gliwice. Therefore, the left foot was a Gornik fan from an early age.

Lukas Podolski’s dream becomes reality

“My big dream is to end my footballing career with Gornik at some point,” has been reading his homepage for a long time. Now the dream becomes a reality.

In the past one and a half years, Poldi had been in action for the Turkish first division team Antalyaspor, previously two and a half years in Japan for Vissel Kobe. For 1. FC Köln he scored 86 goals in 181 competitive games and prepared 42 more.

The season in the Polish Ekstraklasa starts on July 23rd. Zabrze finished in tenth place (out of 16 teams) in the past season.

Podolski’s plan is to play for another two years. His contract in Zabrze initially runs until 2022, with the option for another season.
