RTL puts reporter and presenter Susanna Ohlen (39) on leave!
She reported after the flood from the flood area, RTL made her a heroine. “RTL presenter Susanna Ohlen is actively involved in the clean-up work in Bad Münstereifel and shares shocking recordings online,” said an RTL report. The mud-smeared Ohlen told in this report about the suffering of the people and called on the audience to lend a hand too.
But the report has been deleted and the reporter is on leave.
BECAUSE: Ohlen is said to have been caught smearing mud on herself for TV. She presumably did this to make her accounts of the death flood, in which more than 170 people died, more realistic and / or dramatic.
But: Ohlen was filmed during her mud campaign, a video ended up on Youtube and Twitter. It shows how she bends down in the presence of colleagues, dipping her hands in the mud and then smearing it on herself.
When asked by BILD, an RTL spokeswoman said on Thursday afternoon: “Our reporter’s approach clearly contradicts journalistic principles and our own standards. We therefore gave her leave of absence on Monday after we heard about it. “
But that means: RTL had known about the mud cheating since Monday – but left its viewers in the dark until the action became public on the network and could no longer be kept secret.
Ohlen has been with RTL since 2008. Most recently she moderated the program “Guten Morgen Deutschland”.
