Portugal will host the fifth edition of the UNWTO global conference focused on wine tourism, scheduled for 9 and 10 September 2021, a Reguengos de Monsaraz, in the region ofAlentejo.

to be able to welcome invited delegates from all over the world. “Now more than ever it is important to support wine tourism – declares the general secretary of UNWTO, Zurab Pololikashvili – and I am sure that this event will represent a unique opportunity to share experiences lived in this historical moment and place the two sectors at the center of the recovery, in particular the benefits they can bring to rural communities. I thank Portugal for helping to accelerate the recovery of the sector ”.

“Like one of the top destinations in wine tourism, which is considered one of the riches of the destination,
thanks to its power to attract qualified tourists with a high purchasing power, allowing numerous points of
attraction throughout the territory and throughout the year, thus contributing to territorial cohesion e
reducing its seasonality. The development of wine tourism is central in Recovery Plan (Reactivate Tourism |
Build the Future) for the tourism sector but the dynamization of this product also has an action plan
specific and dedicated. The Plan, in fact, will contribute to the enhancement of wine tourism, of wine itself and will guarantee
a very important contribution to create more value and employment in these regions ”.
