There is no doubt that in his career, and probably in his life, there is a before and after having played a superhero. The usual question in these cases is: is he a fan of superhero movies? He recently gave us the answer to that question and apparently it is a resounding no.

The actor spoke to The Hollywood Reporter. In that interview of course he mentioned that Tim Burton helped define the genre; his words were: What Tim did did change everything. ” Most importantly, he revealed that he is not up to date with the genre. After the first Batman movie, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a complete superhero movie. I never did. So you are talking to a fellow who was not in the spirit of the times as far as that world is concerned. When I went to do the Marvel stuff in Atlanta… It’s a whole city dedicated to Marvel… They are going to make Marvel movies forever. I’m going to be there and they are going to continue making Marvel movies.

On the other hand, there was a moment when it made us all doubt whether or not he was going to be in the new movie about DC’s scarlet speedster. This is what he said in an interview for Batman a few months ago:

I need a minute to think about it because I am very lucky and blessed, I have many things to do now. I’m really at work right now. I don’t know why, but I am, so yeah, I mean, you know, to tell you the truth, somewhere on my iPad there’s an iteration of the whole thing with The Flash that I haven’t had time for. I called them and said, ‘I have to be honest with you. I can not do anything [de The Flash] at this time.’ I’m so into this that I’m doing [su serie de Hulu, Dopesick]. Also, I am preparing something that I am producing and preparing to do in the fall. So, yeah, there is that. I’m not being shy. If i talk about [Batman]I’ll just fool you I really do not know. I have to look at the last draft.

Another reason why he was doubtful is the pandemic and the fact that he had to travel to London to reprise his role as Batman. The good thing is that in the end he accepted and soon we will see him play that character again after 3 decades. Will you see that tape when it’s finished? Who knows, in a future interview we will have the answer to that and other similar unknowns.
