What the movie is about: John David Washington plays Malcolm, a filmmaker who’s on the brink of Hollywood success after using his girlfriend Marie’s (played by Zendaya) story in his career-making movie. Marie believes had they not been together, Malcolm would not have been able to tell his story as truthfully as possible, yet he refuses to admit Marie was the basis of his film. Malcolm & Marie takes place over one night as the two determine the fate of their tumultuous relationship.

What the show is about: The White Lotus follows several different guests who come to Hawaii on vacation and stay at the White Lotus hotel. Each episode revolves around a different day of these guests’ vacations, and slowly the audience begins to realize that these trips aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. Between the constant cringe comedy, painfully awkward moments, and building tension lies a mystery that’s darker than you’d expect. Sydney plays a college student who’s vacationing with her family and best friend, while Lukas Gage plays a staffer at the hotel.

What the movie is about: Pete Davidson stars in the semi-autobiographical movie about Scott Carlin, a 24-year-old high school dropout from Staten Island. Like Pete, Scott’s firefighter father passed away, and over the course of the movie, Scott begins to form a relationship with Ray, a firefighter who begins dating Scott’s mom. Maude plays Claire, Pete’s sister who’s afraid of what will happen to her neurotic brother once she leaves for college.

What the movie is about: Haley Lu Richardson plays Veronica Clarke, a 17-year-old high schooler who finds herself pregnant, but unable to get an abortion in Missouri without a parent’s consent. In an effort to keep her secret private and get the care she needs, Veronica recruits her old best friend Bailey (played by Barbie) to drive her to the nearest abortion clinic that doesn’t require parental consent, which happens to be all the way in Albuquerque, NM.

What the movie is about: Waves follows Tyler Williams and his family as they navigate love and forgiveness after a tragic loss that turns their entire world upside down. Alexa plays Tyler’s girlfriend, who gets pregnant with Tyler’s baby. Sterling K. Brown also stars as Tyler’s strict father.

What the movie is about: Years after her astrophysicist father’s disappearance, Meg Murry (played by Storm) learns that her father has transported himself across the universe and she must help three astral travelers find him. Over the course of the film, Meg travels through time and space, while also discovering how to trust her own instincts. Mindy Kaling, Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey, and Chris Pine also star in the movie.

What the show is about: Fear the Walking Dead begins as a prequel to the events of The Walking Dead, where the Clark family must struggle to survive the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. Eventually catching up to The Walking Dead‘s timeline, the two series blend together as the disease spreads across the nation. Colman plays Victor Strand, a conman-turned-businessman who befriends the Clarks.

What the movie is about: The Greatest Showman follows P.T. Barnum’s rise from nothing as he creates what we now know as the Barnum & Bailey circus. Zendaya stars as Anne Wheeler, a Black acrobat who falls in love with Barnum’s partner Philip Carlyle but can’t be seen with him because of her skin color.

What the show is about: Created by Ava DuVernay, When They See Us follows the true story of The Central Park Five, a group of POC teenage boys who were charged with a crime they didn’t commit back in 1989. The miniseries follows the court case that landed them with maximum terms for juveniles. Years later in 2003, the group filed a suit against the city and was finally awarded a settlement in 2014. Storm plays Lisa, who was the girlfriend of one of the accused, Korey Wise.

Maude plays Grace, a high schooler who learns that her best friend sent nude photos to her boyfriends so she beats her with a baseball bat, while Colman plays the school’s principal.

Alanna stars as Jo Hernandez-Frumpkis, Abby’s best friend from college who moves in with Abby after discovering her own husband has a second family.
