Any tribute dedicated to Jimi Hendrix, one of the fathers of rock and one of the greatest exponents of the electric guitar in history, paying little attention to how our favorite music has evolved thanks to its influence on it.

As a tribute to the late American musician, the guitarist Slash (Guns N’ Roses), Phil Collen (guitarist of Def Leppard, this time in charge of the voices as well) and the bassist Robert DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots) have chosen the topic “Fire” to perform in the annual fundraising campaign of the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association. The three were accompanied by the drummer Forrest Robinson, from Delta Deep, for that purpose.

This event, which in 2021 has had its 51st edition, has become an event in the Californian city, through which different artists come together to support the city’s zoo.

The result of the alliance of Slash, Collen, DeLeo and Robinson is this impressive cover:

DeLeo has shared the following reflection on this day via Instagram: “Hello everybody. I haven’t posted anything for quite some time. I hope you all were well. It was a memorable day to post again. I spent the day with Slash, Phil Collen and Forrest Robinson, recording our version of Jimi Hendrix’s “Fire” for the Los Angeles Zoo’s Beastly Ball at Gold Diggers Studio. This has also been a very emotional day for me with my friends at Gold Diggers. This is where my beloved 1974 Neve 8014 console now resides. A lot of music and memories have passed through this table, and I know it has gone to a great home. Overall it has been an amazing day with great friends! Lots of love”.
