This weekend, Coldplay performed a set, which included their recent single ‘Higher Power’, in a spectacular setting for Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2021.

Performing in front of the illuminated Whitby Abbey in North Yorkshire – the monastic ruins that inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula – as the sun set in the background, the song by Chris Martin and company also featured. a spectacular fireworks display.

The band joined artists of the stature of Wolf Alice, Ed Sheeran and Royal Blood in the lineup for Big Weekend 2021, in which each of them performed from a special venue of their choice.
This year’s Big Weekend festival is being held online for the second year in a row due to restrictions imposed by the coronavirus. It will air on BBC Radio 1, BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds from Friday (May 28) to Bank Holiday Monday (May 31).
Earlier this week (May 27), James Newman revealed that he received a call from Chris Martin following the loss of points from the first at Eurovision.
