If you are a fan of the classic Adult Swim series, today is your day. Three of the plant’s cartoons will be made into movies. Venture Brothers, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Metalocalypse will return, but this time in film form. All films will be continuations of the series and will be animated.
Venture Brothers will feature a new Doc invention that will either bring the Ventures incredible wealth or destroy them. The entire creative team of the series is back, as is the case with all films. There are no plot details, but the report says that “Hank is looking for himself, Dean is looking for Hank, The Monarch is looking for answers, and a mysterious woman from their past threatens to cause their entire world to collapse on them.”
Aqua Teen Hunger Force, which bases much of its comedy on nonsense, has even fewer details aside from saying that Frylock, Meatwad, and Master Shake will be back to doing things that have nothing to do with being superheroes. The last time the trio had a movie it had mixed reviews, but it was pretty much in line with the series and made a lot of money. It’s unclear if it will be a sequel or if that matters.
The Louvin Brothers will have a compilation chosen by She & Him, Beck and Graham Nash among others
The Blues Brothers will have their own television series
Metalocalypse boasts the most detail as co-creators Brendon Small and Tommy Blacha return to bring their heavy metal-infused world to the cinema. The Tribunal reveals something called “Project Falconback” in their quest for power, as the Doomstar begins to penetrate Earth’s atmosphere. Not only that, but one of the members of the Dethklok gang is out of control. The film will continue directly after the rescue of Toki Wartooth, so it could be the most connected to the original series of the three films.
Now where can you watch these movies? On HBO Max, eventually. The films will be released on Blu-ray / DVD, PVOD, and digitally before hitting HBO Max, giving fans the opportunity to grab some physical copies to display on their dedicated Adult Swim shelves alongside their printed logo. In 3D of Too Many Cooks.
