Between 1958 and 1959 Fender mounted a “toploader” bridge on some guitars such as the Mirror / Dragon of Jimmy Page or Strummer’s original Esquire, and this replica reflects that, so the buyer can choose to either ride the strings through the body or anchored to the back of the bridge.

In electronics, mount a single pickup on the bridge, a ’55/’56 Single-Coil Tele hand wound by Josefina Campos, the one who was an apprentice to the legendary Abigail ybarra, and now in charge of that job for the Custom Shop. The circuit also reproduces the original with the 3-position selector, offering the following options:

  1. The pickup is wired only through the volume pot with the tone off.
  2. Tone potentiometer is on
  3. The tone pot is off again, but the pickup signal passes through a circuit with a resistor and capacitor that darkens the sound and lowers the volume a bit.
