Spinetta’s unplugged “Estrelicia” uploaded to digital stores and released on vinyl – Télam

Spinetta’s recording was originally released in 1997

The disc “Estrelicia – MTV Unplugged” by Luis Alberto Spinetta, originally published in 1997 in CD format, will have its vinyl edition and will be uploaded to digital stores this Friday, June 18.

The recording was made live in Miami during 1997, within the famous series of acoustic television concerts of the MTV channel, where international figures such as Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart y Nirvana, in addition to the Argentines Charly Garca, Soda Stereo and Paranoid Mice.

This “Unplugged” reviews great songs from Spinetta’s career, such as “Peach bleeding”, “Mud maybe”, “Laura goes”, “I want to see a train” and “The real thirst”.

There are also oddities, such as an Indian song from the Almendra era called “The honey in your window”, which had the special participation of the remembered Rodolfo Garca, whom El Flaco asked to play the accordion, an instrument he learned to play before dedicating himself to drums.

As a special addition, this vinyl edition adds the exquisite theme “Running in front of you”, which was not included on the original CD.

At that recital, Spinetta was accompanied by Marcelo Torres on bass and Daniel Wirtz on drums, both members of the group The Desert Partners, in addition to special guests such as Juan Carlos “Mono” Fontana on keyboards, Nico Cota on percussion, Rodolfo Garca with the accordion in “Honey in your window”, photojournalist Eduardo Mart with guitar in “Garopaba”, Daniel Rawsi with percussion in “La montaa”.

But also, the Argentine composer and arranger Carlos Franzetti, winner of several Grammy Awards, played the piano and designed the string arrangement and direction in “Laura goes” and “Jazmn”, since in both songs Spinetta was accompanied by the Miami String Orchestra.

The television broadcast of the concert was made in two parts. The first was the October 29, 1997, and the second a week later. The presentation of the album was in November of that year on four dates at the Gran Rex Theater.

Due to the large number of themes and the total length of 62 minutes, the vinyl edition is a luxurious double disc.
