Pink Floyd: Roger Waters promotes ‘Animals (2018 Remix)’ and opens another war with David Gilmour

There are fights that are timeless and legendary. Roger Waters now challenge Pink Floyd Y David Gilmour releasing their own remixed version of the legendary album ‘Animals‘, original from 1977.

Waters explains himself in a promotional video on YouTube: “How am I? blocked by Dave Gilmour and I can’t post anything on Pink Floyd’s official Facebook page, which has 30 million subscribers, as I post this ad from here and thoroughly on rogerwaters.com. “

“The first thing I want to do is give a warm welcome to all our brothers and sisters who have an open mind, I hope that many fans whose access to my words is restricted by Gilmour will find a way to follow me around and discover something really”, keep going.

“What precipitated this note is that there are new stereo and 5.1 mixes of James Guthrie from Pink Floyd’s 1977 album ‘Animals’. These mixes have been forgotten due to a legal dispute over some cover notes that Mark Blake has written for this release. Gilmour has vetoed the release of the album unless these notes are removed, “he says.

He points out that Gilmour “does not dispute the veracity of the story described in Mark’s notes, but wants that story to remain a secret.” “This is a small part of an ongoing campaign by the Gilmour-Samson society to claim more credits for Dave for the work he did at Pink Floyd between 1967 and 1985, than he is entitled to,” he comments on the guitarist’s claims.

And he notes: “Of course he was and is a good guitarist and vocalist. But for the last 35 years he has told a lot of falsehoods about who did what in Pink Floyd when I was still in charge. There is a lot of we did this and we did that, and I did this and I did that. But I want to clarify 2 things: (1). I agree with the release of the new remix of ‘Animals’ not including the cover notes. Good job James Guthrie by the way, and sorry Mark Blake The final draft of the notes was fact-checked and we found them correct on both my part and Nick. [Mason] and Gilmour. Here they are, enjoy it, there is nothing controversial, just a few anecdotes. “

But he adds: “I am writing my Memoirs and inevitably some memories contain references to some of the previous content (in reference to Blake’s notes that have been banned). For anyone with a weak heart, I suggest that you sit down, but anyone whoever likes to laugh, sit down and howl. “

Among the reproaches that Waters makes to Gimour are some statements that the guitarist made in 1982 to the journalist David Fricke in an interview about how the sounds of the cash register of the mythical song ‘Money’ had been recorded.

In the interview, Gilmour recounted, according to Waters, with little clarity, how he made the recordings and achieved the mixing effects. Waters says it’s all bullshit: “The reason everything David Gilmour is saying here to David Fricke sounds like gibberish is because it’s that, fucking gibberish. He has no fucking idea what he’s talking about. Why? Because unless I was hiding under the fucking chair I wasn’t there when I made that SFX tape loop for ‘Money’ in the studio I shared with my wife Judy at the bottom of our garden. “

Waters assures that he will tell this topic and other versions of what happened in his memoirs, and that, in the meantime, he hopes that this advance “whets David and Polly’s appetite,” he laughs.

And what we were going to at the beginning: ‘Animals (2018 Remix)’ is a remix of the original album, made in 2018, containing a total of 4 discs: CD, vinyl LP, Blu-Ray and DVD. It will be signed by Pink Floyd, although it will be difficult to see that the band promotes it as an acceptable production, but everything indicates that he will leave this work to Waters, on his own.

Roger Waters tour on the way

Meanwhile, the mythical bassist and composer of Floyd recently announced that after canceling in 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the new world tour called ‘This is Not a Drill‘(“This is not a drill”), next after’ The Wall ‘and’ Us + Them ‘, plans are back on the road.

The new dates will bring a total of 36 concerts in the US and Canada starting in Pittsburgh on July 6, 2022 at the PPG Paints Arena.

The scheduled tour takes Waters on the road during the summer and fall of 2022, so hopefully in Europe we won’t have his tour until 2023. By then he will be close to 80 years old …
