Green Day release new single: ‘Pollyanna’

“Better times await us on the horizon, and to celebrate we have released a new song”. This is how Green Day announced in a tweet the release of a new single entitled ‘Pollyanna’.

It is the second new song released in 2021, after they released the single ‘Here Comes The Shock’ in February.

Power pop ‘Pollyanna’ has arrived just hours after it was confirmed that the Hella Mega Tour, the stadium tour that will bring together Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Weezer and The Interrupters, will take place this summer. The first date will be July 24 in Atlanta and will end September 6 in Seattle.

The European leg of the tour, which does not include dates in Spain, had previously been postponed to 2022.

You can see the lyric video then:

Here are the lyrics of the song:

“Rainy days and razor blades
I think it’s time to pull up the shades
It’s wonderful to be alive
Hurricanes and headlines
Standing in another line
It’s wonderful to be alive
Everything is gonna be alright

Don’t let em get you down
Don’t let em push you around
We’re gonna take back the night
Everything’s gonna be alright

Share your bread with friends you don’t know
Hold the truth and never let go
Don’t give up and go with what you know’s for real
What will be and this is life
Everyday’s a jubilee
It’s wonderful to be alive

Open roads and traffic lights
You’re the last soul in sight
It’s wonderful to be alive
Everything is gonna be alright

Don’t let em get you down
Don’t let em push you around
We’re gonna take back the night
Everything’s gonna be alright

Share your bread with friends you don’t know
Hold the truth and never let go
Don’t give up and go with what you know’s for real
Better days are looking up the road

Don’t give up and go with what you know
Hold the truth and leave the rest as not for real
Screaming out for love
Rise above the shame
Shouting out for love
Rise above
Don’t give up yourself
Don’t let me down
Don’t let me down
Don’t let me down”.
