Well they say that to remember is to live again, and today we celebrate one of the most iconic dates in music, since this day, July 2nd, but from 2005, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright Y Nick Mason they took the stage of the festival Live 8 o’clock 11:23 pm, in what would be the first concert of Pink Floyd with the classic lineup on 24 years.
That Saturday july 2, the emblematic Hyde Park from London, England, was packed with tens of thousands of people who witnessed an artistic parade of epic proportions, curated with the help of the mythical English figure Bob Geldof, who had also organized the festival Live Aid on 1985.
The poster of the day, at least for the location of London, included acts such as Paul McCartney, Elton John, The Killers, U2, Robbie Williams, Sting, The Who, Coldplay, Keane and well, basically the cream and none of the rock English, to be clearer.
But days before, it began to circulate in Internet the rumor that the festival Live 8 brought a as up its sleeve, an attraction that would surpass the imposing list of confirmed acts that already, in itself, had millions of people with the emotion up to the sky. Who was it then?
However, while it will be remembered by the most hardened fans of Pink Floyd, a few hours before starting the Live 8, Internet I secretly knew that the surprise of the day would be a special performance by the band, with the classic line-up: Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Richard Wright Y Nick Mason. Impossible, they have almost a quarter of a century without speaking!
And in the end, it happened. The banal differences (mainly between Roger Y David) stood aside for at least 24 glorious minutes, to support a greater cause. And we were able to witness it, with our own eyes.
And the best of all was that, thanks to the magic of Internet (and although the new generations may not believe it) the concert was broadcast by livestream to the whole world, and thanks to the technology of 15 years ago, millions of fans of Pink Floyd they were able to live one of the most important milestones in the history of music, if not the greatest of the new millennium, to this day.
This day we celebrate the XV anniversary from the last concert he gave Pink Floyd in history, with the classical line-up and that practically represented an emotional symbol that would close, once and for all, one of the greatest eras in music.
