The month of July arrived with cultural options for everyone!

Enjoy music, theater, dance, literature, exhibitions, and much more.

We have organized the activities by dates ranging from 6 al 19 of July, so that you can find them easily.

The Rafael Ángel Calderón Guardia Museum premiered the exposition “Munguía: Artistic creation, social commitment, memory”, that celebrates the life and legacy of the artist Francisco Munguía (1976-2020), and will be on display until August 28. The hours are from Monday to Saturday, from 9 am to 5 pm, and admission is free.

The Museum of Contemporary Art and Design presents the exhibition “Black Cube” which is a special edition of Restless Image on the occasion of the bicentennial. It will run until October 9, and the hours are from 10 am to 4:45 pm Reserve al 2257-7202.

Guided tours of the National Theater are back! The cost of the tour is 1695 in general admission and ₡ 1130 for seniors. More information here.

Online Preamble of Cinema Center offers free face-to-face performances with different films, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Reservations can be made Thursday through Saturday between 8 am and 6 pm, at 2542-5217.

Enjoy the sixth edition of “A playful tour” , until July 25. Will be presenting the best Latin American short films in a virtual way. Tickets cost ₡ 2,500 and you can buy them here.

Are you interested in learning about Film production? The Art Cinema Film Library opened a virtual course taught by filmmaker Adriana Cordero. The program will run for six Saturdays starting on July 10. And the hours will be from 2 pm to 5 pm Get more information at WhatsApp 7236-9973.

University Dance of the UCR invites to the virtual choreographic workshop “Sacred Dances” aimed at people over 50 years of age (no experience required). Classical dances from India, as well as traditional dances from regions of Central Africa and West Africa, and their possible crossovers with the language of contemporary dance, yoga and dance therapy will be explored. The registration deadline is July 12, the start of lessons will be Wednesday July 14 from 4 to 5:15 pm, and will last for four months. Registration here.

The illusionist Pablo Valverde offers virtual courses in Magic for teens and adults to ₡10.000. The appointment will be on Thursdays at 8 pm, through Zoom. You can register at 8878-6610.

Are you a writer? The College of Costa Rica opened the XI Call for Scholarships for the Promotion of Literary Arts 2021. The program is aimed at creative people and artistic groups with projects that show significant impact for the literary arts, reading and the book industry. Registration until November 1. Tuesday, July 6:

Theater at noon presents “The inheritance of my wings” by the narrator Ana Coralia Fernandez. Enjoy the transmission through the Facebook of the National Theater.

Wednesday July 7:

As part of the 2021 concert season, UCR Musical Arts presents the premiere of the album guitarist Marco Corrales Ventura “Dreams and Sones” at 6 pm Follow the broadcast on Youtube.

The interdisciplinary project Spectators / Creators. Inter-artistic encounters around a screen ” will have the participation of Costa Rican cultural manager and music historian Fo León to present the films of Todd Haynes. The activity starts at be 6 pm, by means of Facebook.

Thursday July 8:

Friday July 9:

Ars Kriterion will be conducting a session to talk about the artist Alfonso Chase, specifically of culture and resilient criticism at 9 am, through Facebook.

The feminist percussion ensemble Play the Tambó presents Seed Cycle, and will have the special participation of Maf É Tulà and Nelly Juárez Villegas being 3 pm, in Ditsú. Entry costs ₡ 5,000 and you can book through Sinpe Móvil at 8534-1319.
