F1, MotoGP and more: the 2022 of engines, the dates not to be missed

The motorcycle world championship scheduled for March 6, two weeks later the hunt for Verstappen will start. Here are the dates not to be missed, the team presentations, the SBK, Motocross, Formula E and Extreme E races

Still excited about the daring conclusion of the 2021 F1 World Championship, 2022 has just begun but already promises to be an equally exciting season for motorsport, between Formula 1 and MotoGP. Let’s see which are the most important appointments of the 2022 calendar.

2022 f1 calendar

For the F1 World Championship it will be a historic year given the epochal change of regulation that promises great competitiveness on the track and an increase in overtaking in the race. Last July we saw a prototype of a new single-seater, a 1: 1 scale model presented by F1, but there is enormous curiosity to see how the various teams will interpret the new regulations. Although Mercedes has already released a first video on social media that testifies to the ignition of the W13 engine – as the car of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will be called – there is still no official date for the official presentations of the individual cars. Typically, February is the key month forunveiling. But many teams also choose the dates of the winter tests to show themselves to the world for the first time. Tests that are scheduled for 2022 in Montmelò (Spain) from 21 to 25 February, and in Sakhir (Bahrain) from 10 to 12 March. The actual World Championship will begin the following weekend, with the Bahrain GP set for March 20, 2022: there the hunt for the title held by Max Verstappen will start. Two GPs will be held in Italy, in Imola on April 24 (Emilia Romagna GP) and in Monza on September 11 (Italian GP). Australia and Japan will return after three years (in Melbourne on April 10, in Suzuka on October 9), Miami will make its debut (May 8). Closing on November 20, 2022 in Abu Dhabi.

motogp calendar 2022

True, there will be no Valentino Rossi on the grid, but the 2022 MotoGP gives Italian fans a glimpse of bright horizons. Great expectations and enormous expectations from Ducati and Pecco Bagnaia, among the super favorites for the title like the defending champion Fabio Quartararo. Great curiosity also for the conditions of Marc Marquez, who closed 2021 early – the year in which he won 3 races despite not being 100% … – and is still struggling with the diplopia following a fall in motocross. So far we know that the only team to have scheduled an official presentation is the WithU Yamaha, the former Petronas to be clear, which will start again on January 24th. The first official tests are scheduled, Covid permitting, on 5-6 February in Sepang (Malaysia), and on 11-12 February at the Mandalika Circuit in Indonesia. The World Championship will start – barring last-minute postponements – on 6 March with the Qatar GP in Losail, before returning to Indonesia for the debut of the GP in Mandalika (where Sbk made its debut in 2021) on 20 March. Returns of Argentina, Japan, Thailand, Australia and Malaysia are expected after 3 years (3 April in Rio Hondo, 25 September in Motegi, 2-16-23 October between Phillip Island and Sepang), Finland even after 40 years (10 July ). In Italy it will take place at Mugello on 29 May and at Misano on 4 September. Closing in Valencia on 6 November 2022.

the other appointments

The World rally will open in a few days, January 20, with the Monte Carlo Rally, and will close on November 13, 2022 with the Rally of Japan. In Italy, the historic stage in Sardinia is scheduled from 2 to 5 June. The Formula E: the electric world championship will have its first round in Saudi Arabia with two E-Prix on 28 and 29 January, will close in Seoul (South Korea) on 14 August 2022. Two races in Italy, both in Rome, on 9 and 10 April 2022. February will be the starting month of Motocross World Championship, with the first round of the MXGP set on February 20 with the Great Britain GP; there are currently two Italian stages, with Trentino on 10 April and Sardinia on 15 May; closing on 18 September in a venue to be identified, while the Team World Championship, Motocross of Nations, will be held in the USA on 25 September. In spring the Superbike World Championship, with the first stage scheduled in Aragon (Spain) on 9-10 April; currently closing in Indonesia on 12-13 November but a possible Australian stop remains to be fixed, which could be placed at the end of the calendar. In Italy it will be held in Misano on 11-12 June 2022. The championship aroused great curiosity in 2021 Extreme E, reserved for electric SUVs with great drivers behind the wheel and thrilling elimination challenges. Extreme E will start again on February 19-20 from Saudi Arabia and will close us on November 26-27 in Uruguay; a stop in Sardinia is scheduled for 7-8 May.
