Car accident for Tiger Woods: open fractures to both legs

The golfer’s car, who was alone behind the wheel, overturned, perhaps due to speeding. He is currently undergoing surgery on his lower limbs

Tiger Woods was the victim of a car accident in the morning (around 7.15) in Los Angeles. The golfer’s car went off the road in the stretch between Rolling Hill Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes, about 35 km south of the metropolis, sustaining considerable damage.

Rescuers extracted Tiger – who was driving alone – from the car (without the use of hydraulic shears as was first mentioned) through the windshield, then transported him to Harbor Ucla Medical Center for his injuries. Woods will later be transferred to another clinic, that of Ucla Westwood. The golfer has never lost consciousness. His agent, Mark Steinberg, stated that Tiger is currently in the operating room where he is undergoing surgery on his lower limbs, both of his legs would be fractured (open fractures). Espn later confirmed that police sources revealed that Tiger is not in danger of life.

According to the images coming from the helicopters, it could be deduced that the car may have skidded, hitting a road sign, jumping into the opposite lane and ending its run on its side in the ditch after hitting a tree head-on. The police are on site to carry out the procedure. Tiger’s vehicle, a courtesy car provided by the tournament sponsor, is equipped with a black box (like the one for planes), which will then allow investigators to check all relevant data.

Two other cars were involved in the accident, a trivial rear-end collision caused by the usual curiosity of wanting to watch what happened while driving. The occupants were not injured. There was no fog at the time of the crash, therefore problems related to visibility should be ruled out. Instead, it appears Tiger was traveling at high speed. According to the Tmz website, the confirmation would come from the director of the television show “Grown-ish”, in production at the hotel where Tiger was staying, which saw Woods leave the parking lot “nervous and agitated” and at high speed, touching the car of the director, who, frightened, told the incident to his staff.

At 3pm Los Angeles, midnight in Italy, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva held a press conference, which added nothing to what was already known: “We arrived at the crash site at 7.18am and we found Tiger’s car off the road – the sheriff said -. There was nothing suspicious, no indication that Mr. Woods was incapacitated at the time of the accident, although of course it will take toxicology tests to be sure. It will take days or weeks to complete the investigation. At the moment we cannot speculate on the causes. No braking signs were found on the spot ”. The 45-year-old was in Southern California as a guest at the Genesis Invitational Golf Tournament which took place at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades. In recent days he had announced that the recent back surgery could have put him out of action for the April Masters in Augusta.

He also took part in a photoshoot with other celebrities, including former Nba star Dwyane Wade, actor David Spade and actress Jessica Alba for the upcoming edition of Golf Digest. Many messages of good wishes on social networks, including that of the ex-girlfriend, the ski champion Lindsey Vonn and of the former US President Donald Trump: “Get well soon Tiger, you are a true champion!”.

Woods is no stranger to car accidents. Sadly famous was that of 2009 in Orlando, when his SUV first hit a fire hydrant and then a tree. That episode brought to light the numerous betrayals to his wife Erin, who shortly after filed for divorce.

And again, in 2017, he was arrested after being found asleep at the wheel. Tiger had taken medications and hadn’t calculated the effect they would have on him.
