Pirelli 2022 calendar: Bryan Adams talks about the rock stars “On The Road”

The Canadian musician, who shot the 48th edition of the most glamorous and exclusive calendar, presented his work in streaming

The Cal is back on track after last year’s stop due to a pandemic. The Pirelli 2022 signed by Bryan Adams is called “On The Road”, for the first time made by a rocker and entirely with a musical theme. But it is still the virus that conditions its restart: the Canadian artist, who shot the forty-eighth edition of the most glamorous and exclusive calendar, presented his work in streaming. After arriving at Malpensa on Friday, Adams tested positive for the virus (for the second time in a month).

And now here he is, in a leather jacket from his hotel room in Milan, telling the portraits, in over 160 pages, taken last summer in Los Angeles – between the famous Hotel Chateau Marmont in Hollywood and the Palace Theater – and the island of Capri (in La Scalinatella) to music artists of different ages and genres: Cher, Jennifer Hudson, Rita Ora, Iggy Pop, Kali Uchis, Grimes (ex wife of Elon Musk), Bohan Phoenix, St Vincent (his lo snapshot of the cover with the pick on the tongue), Saweetie and Normani and Adams himself for the month of December.

The leitmotif of this calendar, made up of women but also men, is, in fact, the “on the road” life of the musicians. “There is a perfect symbiosis – explained Adams – between us musicians who are always on the road, just like Pirelli tires. ‘On the road’ is what I’ve been doing for 45 years, touring is my life ”. But inside these images collected in a vinyl LP case, there is above all an attempt to understand, as Adams himself explained, “the intensity and charm of life on tour, but also boredom and loneliness. Even if immersed in the imagination “.

During the presentation, live worldwide and connected by Hangar Bicocca, the executive vice president and CEO of Pirelli Marco Tronchetti Provera also unveiled the logo for the 150th anniversary of the company in 2022: “Bryan’s idea Adams to combine the world of music with that of the road and travel seemed perfect for a calendar that returns as we seek a progressive recovery of normality after the outbreak of the pandemic. I want to thank Bryan: he is a far-sighted and visionary artist ”. And, on the sidelines of the show-presentation, Tronchetti Provera also spoke of F1: “The World Championship is disputed between Hamilton and Verstappen, two champions who represent two generations, a beautiful world championship”. A comment also for Inter: “I am satisfied but you have to live day after day. It was difficult to think of competing like today, a big round of applause for this Inzaghi ”. Finally, when asked about the future of the Milanese stadium and the hypothesis that it will be demolished: “If they demolish the San Siro, I feel a little demolished too”, recalling that I “grew up” as a fan in that place.
