Top Five Golfers Of All Time – Golf News | golf magazine

We have many talented golfers all over the world. Some are better known than others, like Tiger Woods or Jack Nicholson. We’ve also had some amazing golfers over the years, some more recent, some from many years ago. Regardless of when they played, one thing is clear: these players have had a monumental impact on their sport.

Before leaving Fanduel Live Golf Odds, we thought we’d first dive into some of the top 5 female golfers of all time. We want to pay tribute to these incredibly talented ladies, so here’s our roundup!

mickey wright

It is almost impossible to mention the greats of women’s gold without mentioning Mickey Wright. He first joined the LPGA Tour in 1955 and made history from there. By the time 2000 rolled around, Wright was ranked the best female golfer in the women’s leagues and also the ninth best female golfer overall by Golf Digest.

Like the other players on this list, Wright has a slew of LPGA tour wins: 82 in total. She’s a bit behind Kathy Whitworth in this regard, but still worth praising. She also won the LPGA Vare Trophy 5 times in a row during 1960-64, and that’s not the only award she won!

In addition to this, he also managed to win 13 major LPGA championships. You will also notice that his name is in the World Golf Hall of Fame; it has stood there since 1964 when it was first added to it. With all this in mind, it’s no wonder she’s also managed to win the Female Athlete of the Year title twice.

patty berg

It’s hard to imagine where the LPGA Tour would be right now if it weren’t for Patty Berg. Why? She was the founding member! In addition to this, she was one of the key players from the 1940s to the 1960s on the LPGA tour. Needless to say, he no longer plays, but during his time as a golfer he won a number of different trophies and awards for his contributions to the sport. She also won 15 major LPGA championships while playing, and was also named the winner of the 1946 Women’s Open.

Just like Mickey Wright, Patty Berg also managed to win the Female Athlete of the Year award. She managed to do this three times in all, and was finally inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1951.

kathy whitworth

Kathy Whitworth has quite a history with women’s golf. He was incredibly talented and won 88 times in total while touring the LPGA. She doesn’t have as many majors as many other players, of course, with only six to her name.

Most of her wins came during the 1960s and 1970s, making her a player who is a blast from the past. What is especially interesting is that in 1990 she became the first American captain in the Solheim Cup. This is quite a tremendous achievement and certainly one worth celebrating! Her accolades may not be as impressive as some of her other peers on this list, but this player is one who has dominated her sport and should certainly be remembered.

Annika Sorenstam

Annika (pictured) has since retired from golf, but is definitely one of the most successful golfers to date. Throughout her golfing career, she achieved 90 victories in international tournaments and has won the title of female golfer with the highest number of victories in history. On the LPGA tour he also had 72 wins, the third-most total wins on the LPGA tour.

She has also won numerous trophies and was also inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2003.

Luisa Suggs

Louise Suggs certainly made her mark on the world of women’s golf, becoming one of the founding members of the LPGA tour. Women’s golf as we know it today is in part thanks to her input! During his career, he managed to win the LPGA Tour 61 times, which is a tremendously high number. She won numerous titles and awards, including winning the US Women’s Open twice, once in 1949 and again in 1952. Her name was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1951.
